Mapping log:
The idea is to develop a base map of Maldives in relation to historical accounts and archaeological finds in the islands, also expanding to other countries connected within the Indian Ocean trade routes. So maybe a zoom-in kind of map – so that we can later add detailed archaeological/heritage studies/stories to a specific location; e.g., Huvadhu Atoll Gan – Havitta details.
Chapters 1 and 2 from ‘Archaeological Investigations of the Maldives in the Medieval Islamic Period’ are used as a start and expand from there with other resources.
An alternative perspective to the first settlers of Maldives is included with the above layer.
